the question

Make your next retention decision with a clearer picture.

Customers may reconsider a subscription long before they leave permanently. Some pause and return. Others switch providers or find a different way to meet the same need.

We investigate those patterns and the pressures behind them, helping you assess questions such as:

  • What is causing customers to reconsider?
  • Where does dissatisfaction appear reversible?
  • How might a change in price, service, or subscription terms affect switching pressure?
  • Which interventions deserve further testing?

example · netflix

See an example: Netflix.

dfmchn's independent Netflix analysis examined 377,487 public comments. It explored how price and advertising friction developed alongside signs of cancellation and return.

The model distinguished reversible friction from more durable forms of exit. dfmchn's model projected Netflix hard churn at approximately 2% in April 2026, consistent with Antenna's independent 2.3% estimate, while a much larger reversible cohort was building underneath it. Those are the different behaviors a retention strategy may need to address.

the engagement

A focused analysis of your retention question.

We agree the customer group, available evidence, and scenarios before work begins. The engagement includes:

  • Baseline assessment. Where your customer population sits today, read from the language it already uses about you.
  • Switching-pressure analysis. The frictions pushing customers toward reconsidering, and which of them appear reversible.
  • Scenario readout. How the modeled population responds to the changes you are weighing, with implications, assumptions, and limitations stated plainly.
